General Seven Card Stud Poker Rules

Seven Card Stud is among the most popular forms of poker, although Seven Card Stud poker rules are more complicated compared with the community poker games. The objective of the game is still to finish with the highest poker hand and get the pot. In order to take part in this poker game you are to have enough chips for Ante bet.

Game play

  • The players make the Ante bet. The size of the Ante is set by every poker room individually but in general it is not very high.
  • Each player receives three cards, one face up and two face down. This card deal is also called the Third Street.
  • The player who has the lowest face up card is to make the bring-in and thus open the betting.
  • First betting round. The players can choose between bet, raise, fold and check options.
  • The fourth face up card is dealt. In the Seven Card Stud poker rules it is called the Fourth Street.
  • One more betting round with the same betting options.
  • The Fifth Street follows in which the fifth card is dealt face up.
  • Betting round occurs.
  • One more face up card is dealt to each player. This is the Sixth Street.
  • One more round of betting.
  • Finally the last card is dealt face down. This is also known as the Seventh Street or the River.
  • The last betting round is completed.
  • Showdown. The players shows their five card hands and the highest one wins the pot.
