Omaha Poker Rule Basics

Omaha poker is the version of community poker games. It is played with the standard 52 card deck and consists of four rounds of betting.

One of the players at the poker table is the dealer which is marked by the special button which moves clockwise in every round indicating the dealer. According to Omaha poker rule, the first and second players at the left of the dealer place the blind bets and the cards are dealt. Each gambler is given four cards face down. The first round of betting is completed. Then three face up or community cards are placed in the middle of the table and subsequently at every stage of Omaha poker game one more card is revealed (the fourth and fifth) and the players bet. The players can choose to bet, call, raise, fold or check. As a rule, at the last stages of the game the betting amount is doubled.

When all the community cards are available and the last betting round is over the players reveal their hands. Remember, according to the standard Omaha poker rule, in this poker game every player must use two hole cards and three community cards to make the hand otherwise the hand is played not according to the rules. Finally the hands are compared and the winner is determined. In Omaha poker games the standard hand rankings are used.
